Jennifer Cardello Biography :

Jennifer A. Cardello

Associate

Boston

There is a strong financial emphasis in Jennifer Cardello's commercial litigation practice. She has defended investment companies and a "Big Four" accounting firm against a variety of claims, including allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. Jennifer has also represented clients in proceedings that involved the SEC and the FDIC. In addition to her litigation practice, Jennifer's finance-related work includes representing financial institutions that serve as trustees.

Beyond the financial arena, Jennifer represents corporations in a variety of complex civil litigation matters. She has undertaken general business and insurance litigation, and also has handled matters involving employee contracts and non-compete agreements.

Jennifer has an active and significant pro bono practice. She has successfully helped victims of domestic violence obtain protective orders, defend against retaliatory orders, obtain child support and pursue related criminal proceedings, and supervises other associates representing domestic violence victims. Immigration law is another pro bono focus for Jennifer, as she has represented detainees from immigration raids and appeared before the immigration court on behalf of clients seeking political asylum.

Jennifer's experience prior to joining Foley Hoag provided a strong foundation for her trial practice. She served legal internships in the Office of the Prosecutor, United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and in the Special Prosecution Unit of the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, which investigated organized and white-collar crime. She was also an intern in the Massachusetts office of Representative Edward J. Markey. Before entering law school Jennifer was a healthcare associate consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where her work included providing various actuarial services, developing new plan designs for employers, and auditing client's databases as part of management consulting engagements.
