Dr. Rosenfeld, director of the Carolinas ALS Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, is the lead investigator for the Avicena Group's clinical trials evaluating two drug candidates for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). With more than 18 years experience and an active neurology practice, he is widely considered a thought-leader in the area of neurological research, and has served as principal investigator on a number of other clinical trials across a variety of neurodegenerative diseases.
Prior to his present affiliation with the Carolinas ALS Center, Dr. Rosenfeld held the position of co-director of Emory University's neuromuscular pathology lab and also served as attending neurologist at the Emory Clinic. While at Emory University, he organized an ALS clinic, establishing it as one of only 15 such centers in the country recognized by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Dr. Rosenfeld received a B.A. with honors from Miami University, an M.S. and Ph.D. with distinction, from the University of Connecticut, and an M.D. from the University of Maryland. He completed his residency as the University of Pennsylvania hospital. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Rosenfeld completed graduate work in neuromorphology and neuroanatomy at the University of Connecticut and served as an instructor and research associate at the Johns Hopkins University School. |
