Jeffrey M. Boerger is an associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group.
Jeff’s experience includes matters involving federal and state securities laws, insurance coverage disputes, complex reinsurance issues and other commercial litigation. Jeff recently briefed and argued a pro bono prisoner appeal before the Seventh Circuit, winning reversal of an adverse summary judgement decision for his client in Thornton v. Snyder, 428 F.3d 690 (7th Cir. 2005). Jeff has also had the opportunity to represent pro bono clients in a variety of other matters, including an immigration appeal before the Seventh Circuit, a state prisoner's civil rights action in federal district court, a Guantanamo Bay detainee’s habeas corpus petition in federal district court and a military veteran’s employment discrimination claims before a federal administrative agency and on appeal to the Federal Circuit.
Jeff began his legal career clerking for the Honorable F. Bradford Stillman, United States Magistrate Judge, of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Before joining Drinker Biddle & Reath in 2005, he was an associate at Jenner & Block in Chicago.
Jeff graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Government, and he received his J.D. from the College of William & Mary in 2003. While in law school, Jeff was a member of the William & Mary Law Review, and he served as an articles editor and managing editor for successive volumes of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal. Jeff also received the Gambrell Professionalism Award for his outstanding performance in William & Mary’s Legal Skills Program. During the summer of 2001, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Irma S. Raker of the Court of Appeals of Maryland.
Jeff is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar. |
