Dr. Wilkins leads the clinical effort in Ception Therapeutics as Senior Vice President of Clinical Development, bringing 11-years of clinical research experience to the company. He joins Ception from GlaxoSmithKline, where he was the Vice President of Clinical Pharmacology and Discovery Medicine in the Center of Excellence in External Drug Discovery. He was selected to lead the clinical activity from the group's inception with primary responsibility to lead the progression of internal and external assets from Candidate Selection to Proof of Concept. He previously served as group director of GlaxoSmithKline's Urology franchise, where he led the team responsible for global post-marketing clinical support of Levitra® with Bayer and the 2005 NDA and launch of VESIcare® with Yamanouchi. He also led the development of an emerging portfolio of compounds from Phase I through Phase III in Urology and Women's Health. Prior to his appointment in Urology, Jeff built and led an Inflammation and Dermatology research and development effort through his expertise in leading a large Phase III psoriasis program. From his efforts, five new programs have progressed to clinical development. He also was the global clinical leader of the development of an anti-IL-5 monoclonal antibody in hypereosinophilic syndrome and eosinophilic esophagitis. Jeff has leveraged his broad experiences in his 11-year career in general medical practice to garner a similar broad experience at GSK in inflammation, pain, dermatology, oncology, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and urology. Jeff graduated from Temple University Medical School, completed his residency at Temple-affiliated Montgomery Hospital and began a successful two-physician practice. From this, he founded and lead the growth of a 27-physician, 8-site primary care group, TriValley Primary Care. He served as CEO and Director of Clinical Research of this large group for its initial five years while also serving on the hospital board and chairing the Department of Family Medicine before transitioning to GSK. |
