Mr. Van Doren is a Partner in the Employment and Labor practice group at LeClairRyan, where he specializes in immigration and labor law matters. Listed in The Best Lawyers in America for immigration law, Mr. Van Doren focuses on assisting U.S.-based and foreign companies with their business immigration needs. He represents both public and private employers in securing nonimmigrant (temporary) and immigrant (permanent) visas on behalf of employers and employees. Jeff has broad experience representing clients in immigration-related proceedings before federal administrative agencies including the Department of Homeland Security’s immigration bureaus .S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS ) and the Bureau of Customs Enforcement ( BICE ) the Department of Labor, and the Department of State and its U. S. consulates abroad. He also advises U. S. employers on compliance with the I-9 employer sanctions provisions of federal law. Mr. Van Doren also has extensive experience representing management on traditional labor matters including union avoidance and decertification, developing strike plans, collective bargaining, contract compliance, and arbitration. He regularly appears before the NLRB in such matters. Jeff also has frequently been called upon to assist clients in defense of discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage and hour, breach of contract and other employment claims before Federal and State courts. A significant portion of Mr. Van Doren’s practice is spent advising and counseling clients on employment issues and polices in order to avert litigation and improve employee morale. He has also been named by Virginia Business magazine as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite in the field of labor/employment law. Jeff serves on the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Inc. in Roanoke and on the Board of Directors of Justice for Our Neighbors-Roanoke, which provides pro bono immigration legal services in the community.
