Jeffrey A. Eckmann is executive vice president - strategy and business development of Reynolds American Inc. He is responsible for R.J. Reynolds Global Products, Inc., Lane Limited, Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, strategic planning, and business development.
Eckmann was formerly senior vice president and chief financial officer of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation (B&W), a subsidiary of British American Tobacco that was the third-largest manufacturer and marketer of cigarettes in the United States prior to the merger of its U.S. operations with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in July 2004. At that time, Reynolds American became the new parent company.
Eckmann was affiliated with Brown & Williamson and other members of the British American Tobacco group from 1980 until he assumed his current position with Reynolds American. He held various management positions in finance, from 1980 through 1988, with B&W and with BATUS Inc., the former U.S. holding company of B&W. Eckmann was named executive vice president of Ivey's, a former affiliate department store of B&W based in Charlotte, N.C., in 1988. Eckmann returned to B&W in 1991 as vice president of strategy and planning. He was appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2001.
Prior to his career with Brown & Williamson, he was an audit manager with Price Waterhouse in Milwaukee.
Eckmann serves on the boards of the Northern Illinois University Foundation, Soteria Imaging Services and Dare to Care Food Bank in Louisville, Ky.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Eckmann is a certified public accountant and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
