Jeanne Welch Sopher represents physicians and other medical professionals in defense of professional negligence claims. She has been involved in a wide variety of cases including missed cancer and other diagnoses, such as primary pulmonary hypertension, vascular events, and intrauterine growth retardation, and cases involving the improper administration and management of medications. She has worked closely with numerous experts in a wide variety of specialties including pathology, radiology, pulmonology, neurology, and internal medicine. She has successfully argued before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and recently received favorable rulings from the Superior Court and Pennsylvania Supreme Court in a case involving the Certificate of Merit Rules. Ms. Sopher also represents refractory and engineering companies faced with toxic tort claims. She works closely with company representatives and experts to develop a strategy for the defense of these claims and assists in the coordination of these claims on a national level. Ms. Sopher received a Bachelor of Science in Business & Administration in 1979 from Duquesne University where she concentrated in the areas of finance and accounting. She received a Masters in Business & Administration in 1987 from Duquesne University and received her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 1993. Ms. Sopher is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. After 14 years of corporate finance and accounting experience, Ms. Sopher concentrates her legal practice primarily in the areas of medical professional liability, toxic tort and product liability. |
