Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Mr. Brandstadter was an independent consultant and also provided services to government clients, first via SAIC and later through Computer Sciences Corporation. The primary emphasis of these activities was in VoIP and network convergence. Commercial work during this period included product, marketing, business and strategic analyses for vendors (PBX, carrier and other equipment/service providers), and end users. Projects include development of position papers and marketing collateral, convergence training for channels, customers and staff, preparation/analysis of RFIs and RFPs, and seminar presentations. Government programs included (a) support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) on VoIP migration and an IP PBX for a new building, and, (b) business case development and migration planning for a civilian agency moving from PBXs and Centrex to a national, agency-wide VoIP solution.
Mr. Brandstadter retired from federal service in 2000. After early assignments with NIST (in ISDN) and GSA (WITS), the majority of his service was with DISA in voice/network engineering and its management. In convergence, his activities included plans for VoIP rollout in DoD networks, VoIP utilization in a new DISA facility and coordination with Military departments and Joint Staff. He was involved with requirements development for DISN and other Defense networks. He provided technical direction for wireless strategy and related in-house wireless assessments. He was also technical lead for DISA ISDN projects including a wide area trial and a demonstration program.
Mr. Brandstadter spent 30 years in industry prior to joining the government, starting with Bell Labs in first-generation electronic switching systems. He has worked for various technology companies including Xerox, Honeywell and Nortel in telecom and IT.
