Jason Mahler Biography :

Mr. Mahler focuses his practice on general real estate transactions, including the acquisition and financing of privatized military housing development, affordable housing, tax structured real estate transactions, zoning and leasing, as well as environmental matters.

While in law school, Mr. Mahler participated in the University of Connecticut School of Law Asylum and Human Rights Clinic, where he provided legal services to multiple clients in the areas of asylum and immigration law. During his second year of law school, Mr. Mahler served as a judicial intern with the Honorable Alfred V. Covello, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He was also a member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board and served as a teaching assistant in the Lawyering Process Program, as well as Treasurer of the Jewish Law Students Association.

Representative Matters

o Representation of a national developer in connection with the acquisition and development of military housing under the Military Housing Privatization Initiative, including housing related to the Air Force (Patrick Air Force Base, Florida; Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas; Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts; Moody Air Force Base, Georgia), Army (Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri) and Navy (various installations within the State of Washington), as well as the financing of these projects through rated bonds in the capital markets.

o Representation of a local developer in connection with the adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of a historic building to create 44 affordable housing units. This project included low-income and historic tax credits, as well as financing from the Massachusetts Department Of Housing And Community Development and the Boston Department Of Neighborhood Development, with total development costs in excess of $8.3 million.

o Representation of a national retailer in connection with environmental compliance and permitting issues.

o Representation of a national retailer in connection with leasing issues.
