James W. Herwatt, Chief Executive Officer of Cork Supply USA, is responsible for all aspects of Cork Supply USA's business including sales, production and operations. In addition, he's also responsible for preparing the annual budget and setting the company goals. But his most important responsibility is his daily involvement in cork quality control to ensure that all products meet the high standards set by Cork Supply USA. Born in Modesto, California in 1964, James graduated from University of California, Davis in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Managerial and Agricultural Economics. In 1991 he received his MBA from St. Mary's College. No stranger to the wine industry, James brings to Cork Supply USA over ten years of servicing the wine industry. Prior to joining Cork Supply USA in January 1995, James was general manager of fp Portocork for five years. And before that, James was in sales with Latchford Glass and Package Company for four years. James is a hard worker and very competitive. His own personal motto, "There are no silver medals" is applied to everything he does, especially when it comes to Cork Supply USA's cork quality. James sees continued growth in the wine industry and along with it the cork industry. He sees the cork industry being in a unique period right now. "There is great opportunity for a progressive, innovative and forward-looking company. And Cork Supply USA is just the company." James said he sees Cork Supply USA as an integral part of the wine industry and not merely a supplier. "I want to ensure that Cork Supply USA continues to be recognized as the industry leader in cork quality." James is an avid golf player and gets in a round whenever he can. James and his wife Marilyn live in Fairfield with their three children, Stephanie Elaine, Alyssa Danielle and Eric James. |
