James R. Boris was elected to the board of directors for Smurfit-Stone in 2003. He has been chairman of JB Capital Management, LLC since 1999.
Most recently, Boris served as chairman and chief executive officer of EVEREN Securities, Inc. (formerly Kemper Securities, Inc.) from 1990 to October 1999. Boris has held a variety of positions in the financial services industry including executive vice president and member of the board of directors of PaineWebber, Inc., Shearson Lehman Brothers, Inc. He was also president of Canaan Capital Corporation and chairman and chief executive officer of Invest Financial Corporation.
Boris is also a board of director for Peoples Energy Corporation, Centerpost Corporation and the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Prior to his business career, Boris served with the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam.
Boris holds a BA and an MBA from Gannon University. He was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Gannon in 1997. |
