He has been touted as the "Bill Gates of the Atlantic Coast." He's been recognized for his technical knowledge, marketing skills and business acumen by many media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY, the Paul Harvey radio program, and www.forbes.com (Forbe's Magazine's web site).

In October 1999, James negotiated the sale of his Internet technology company, AmeriTrack, where he served as board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The feather in AmeriTrack's web site cap was HighSchoolAlumni.com, which James concepted, implemented and grew to have nearly three million registered users before it's sale to Snowball.com, a California-based online media firm. The site was also one of the largest developed and maintained in South Carolina.

In 2000, he received both the Arthur M. Spiro Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship and the coveted SC Collegiate Entrepreneur Award. Also in 2000, James represented South Carolina as the state's entry, and was selected national runner-up in the North American Collegiate Entrepreneur Award competition, which recognizes outstanding undergraduate students who start and manage their own businesses.

James previously served as the Director of Internet Strategy for an advertising and marketing firm in Greenville, SC, where he assisted the agency and served clients on issues facing them in the Internet revolution.
