James O'Hara is President of Media Product Leadership for The Nielsen Company, overseeing the company's products and services in Nielsen's media space. O'Hara leads media strategy, integration, multi-platform and digital efforts-all with a focus on client needs in a rapidly changing environment. Product categories include: audience measurement, advertising spending, retail sales of entertainment content, segmentation and various integrated cross-Nielsen offerings. He also serves on the board of AGB Nielsen Media Research, a joint venture between The Nielsen Company and Kantar's KMR Group that provides television audience measurement in more than 28 countries.
Prior to his current role, Jim was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for The Nielsen Company's media measurement and information businesses, where he had overall financial and operational responsibilities for the multiple business units in media and entertainment measurement. Previously, he had been Senior Vice President and CFO for Nielsen Media Research. In these roles, he maintained a lead role in various growth programs, including the rollout of People Meters, establishing business process improvements across the media businesses and Nielsen's Anytime Anywhere Media Measurement (A2/M2) initiative.
O'Hara joined The Nielsen Company (then named VNU) in 1998 as Chief Financial Officer for VNU Marketing Information. Before joining VNU, he was a CPA partner at the New York public accounting firm Leslie Sufrin and Company, focusing on the media and publishing industry. He holds a BS, cum laude, from Long Island University/C.W. Post's School of Professional Accountancy. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1986 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves as President of the School Board at St. Agnes Cathedral School in Rockville Centre, NY. |
