James J. Prohaska is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Forest City Residential Group, which comprises all of the multifamily residential ownership, development, management and financial activities of Forest City Enterprises, Inc.
The Residential Group's portfolio includes more than 34,000 units in nearly 120 urban and suburban apartment communities in 15 states and the District of Columbia. Types of properties include apartment communities, mixed-use, adaptive re-use and supported living properties.
Prohaska has been in the commercial and residential real estate industry with Forest City since 1974, when he joined the firm as a controller. He became assistant vice president in 1978, took on the role of executive vice president in 1989, and assumed the additional responsibilities of chief operating officer in 1995.
Prohaska is a graduate of John Carroll University with a degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant.
