Experience
James J. Evangelista is the Chair of the Health Care Litigation Practice Group and is an experienced civil trial lawyer. His practice is focused primarily in the areas of professional liability, medical malpractice, medical device and drug manufacturer, pharmaceutical, aviation, premises and products liability, transportation liability and catastrophic loss. Mr. Evangelista regularly represents professionals, hospitals, health care institutions, pharmacies, institutional review boards, medical device and drug manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers and distributors, aviation professionals, flight schools and insurance companies.

Mr. Evangelista is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by The Florida Bar. Mr. Evangelista is a member of the Trial and Healthcare Law sections of The Florida Bar. He is also a member of the Litigation, Health Law, Tort and Insurance Practice sections as well as the Professional Liability Litigation Committee for the American Bar Association. Mr. Evangelista currently serves as President of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Tampa Bay Chapter. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Florida Hospital Association. He is currently the Vice-Chair for the Casualty Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel. After graduating from law school, Mr. Evangelista served as a law clerk to the chief judge of the First District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee, Florida. He has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America. He has also been named to Florida’s Legal Elite by Florida Trend Magazine and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Florida Super Lawyers Magazine. Mr. Evangelista has been awarded and AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
