Dr. Cavanaugh has been a Managing Director of HealthCare Ventures LLC since 1988. He was previously President of SmithKline & French Laboratories-U.S., the domestic pharmaceutical division of SmithKline Beckman Corporation. He had been President of SmithKline Beckman’s clinical laboratory business and President of Allergan International. Earlier, Dr. Cavanaugh served in numerous senior posts with the U.S. Government on the White House staff and before that at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to that, he was a member of the faculty of the College of Medicine and the Graduate College at the University of Iowa. Dr. Cavanaugh serves as a member of the Board of Directors of four public companies: Shire Pharmaceuticals Group PLC (non-executive Chairman), Diversa Corporation (Chairman) MedImmune, Inc. and Advancis Pharmaceutical Corporation. Dr. Cavanaugh received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa. |
