James G. Schneider President & Chief Technology Officer Jim brings more than 20 years of successful experience in the medical device field. Prior to joining Zassi, Jim was President of Solutions by Design, a medical device consulting firm. His work with Solutions by Design included the development of new radiation therapy systems that prevent post-angioplasty restenosis for Mallinckrodt Medical and the creation of a global 24/7/365 customer help line and complaint tracking database for Sherwood-Davis & Geck ( SDG ). Before Solutions by Design, Jim was a Group Leader in R&D at SDG, where he was responsible for the development of products in the areas of enteral feeding, respiratory care, suction transmission, thoracic drainage, arterial access and cardiology. Jim s duties included working with clinicians to define product requirements, designing or assisting with the design of new products and assisting in the qualification of clinical trial sites, which included working with the Principal Investigators to write protocols and prepare the submissions to institutions Internal Review Boards. Jim also assisted in the preparation of patent applications, prepared business plans, directed staffing assignments, qualified vendors and worked with manufacturing to set up production lines. While at SDG, Jim introduced the Multi-Functional Project Team concept and the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis process to the R&D organization. Jim holds a Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri, an MBA from Washington University (St. Louis) and has completed one year of pre-medical course work. Jim is the inventor or co-inventor on 11 medical device patents and was a finalist in the 1998 Medical Design Excellence Awards. |
