Mr. Friedhofer is a Shareholder in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s San Diego office and a member of the Litigation Group. His practice concentrates primarily on civil writs and appeals, and on dispositive motions in civil trial litigation. Since 1996, Mr. Friedhofer has been certified as an Appellate Law Specialist by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California. He has authored dozens of appellate briefs, petitions, and motions in state and federal courts. He also has regularly presented oral arguments on appeal, including in several cases before the California Supreme Court. His substantive areas of practice include Business and Corporate, Real Estate, Land Use, Construction Defect, Insurance and Reinsurance, Defamation and First Amendment, Professional Liability, and Judicial Misconduct and Disability. He has represented over 30 California judges in ethical investigations and proceedings, disability applications, and other retirement and pension issues. Mr. Friedhofer frequently is retained to work with other law firms as co-counsel, lending expertise both during trials and appeals. In addition to direct party representation, Mr. Friedhofer has advocated for industry leaders on appeal as amici curiae, and has given expert testimony on the issue of appellate attorneys’ fees. |
