From 1970 - 1988, Dr. Selin was founding Chairman/CEO of American Management Systems, Inc. (AMS), a Virginia-based independent software and consulting company. Dr. Selin directed the growth of AMS from start-up to its current status as the nation's eighth largest consulting firm. AMS was one of the early companies in the Virginia technology corridor. Dr. Selin is Chairman of the Board of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. He served as the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) from 1991 to 1995. From 1989 - 1991, he served as Undersecretary of State for Management, with responsibility for managing U.S. foreign policy resources. Dr. Selin serves on several Presidential Advisory Panels and on many public study panels for the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Selin graduated from Yale University with a Ph.D. with distinction, and from Universite de Paris with a Dr. ès Sciences with highest honors. He speaks eight languages and has traveled to more than 140 countries. |
