Irma Rodriguez Moisa Biography :

Irma Rodríguez Moisa has extensive experience in working with companies, municipalities, and school districts on strategic plans designed to help HR managers avoid the myriad of legal issues which they face each day. She is also a skilled labor negotiator and successfully represented employers before the Public Employee Relations Board (PERB). When a conflict does arise, Ms. Moísa has the litigation experience necessary to swiftly and effectively handle the matter successfully. With nine trial cases to her credit, she has litigated numerous matters in state and federal courts in the areas of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, FMLA disability discrimination, wrongful termination, and the first amendment. Ms. Moísa first practiced law as an attorney with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) where she worked on cases regarding school desegregation, bilingual education and voting rights. Ms. Moísa was admitted to practice law in California in 1992 and is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Mexican-American Bar Association; State Bar of California. Ms. Moísa co-authored "The Uncertain Contours of the Vested Benefits Doctrine" in the California Public Employee Relations periodical of the Institute of Industrial Relations, U.C. Berkeley. She has conducted close to 1,000 training seminars and provided advice and counsel to various entities and professional associations on topics such as: preventing discrimination, retaliation, and harassment; embracing diversity; conducting disciplinary investigations; responding to EEOC and DFEH complaints; understanding employee privacy rights; properly maintaining personnel files; managing employee leaves; and imposing employee discipline.
