Experience:
Iain's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, joint ventures and general corporate matters, including private equity transactions. He is also involved in debt portfolio acquisitions by distressed debt players. During the post 1997 financial crisis in Thailand, he focused on corporate debt restructuring, and advised "creditors" committees on the Thai Petrochemical Industry Public Company Limited and Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited and Robinson Department Store Public Company Limited, among others

Notable Engagements:
Thai Petrochemical Industry Public Company Limited (TPI) - Acted throughout the restructuring of TPI for a Committee of Creditors comprising an international group of bank creditors which represented 140 banks, export credit agencies and a supranational lender. After successful completion of all necessary steps required in the restructuring plan, the Thai Central Bankruptcy Court terminated the business reorganisation plan of TPI on 26 April 2006, bringing to an end Thailand's largest and, at eight years, longest-running debt restructuring case.
Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited - Advised the steering committee on the restructuring of around THB 11.5 billion.
Robinson Department Store Public Company Limited - Advised the plan administrator on aspects of the USD 430 million restructuring.
Rover Group/Leyland Bus - Acted for the MBO team in the acquisition of Leyland Bus, a major bus manufacturer.
Cadbury Schwepps/Premier Brand - Acted for the MBO team in the acquisition of the Cadbury Schweppes general foods division.
