Dr. Hash Pakbaz received his Ph.D. from UC, Santa Barbara in physics under the direction of Prof. A.J. Heeger (winner of Chemistry Nobel Prize, 2000). His research was focused on the study of properties of organics semiconductors with an emphasis on organic light emitting diodes (OLED). He later joined Lawrence Livermore Labs to continue his scientific work. In 1997, he was presented with the opportunity to pursue this activity at Siemens with a greater focus on the commercial prospects of OLED based displays for mobile device applications. As one of the founders of the new OLED Display business unit, he played a key role in setting up R&D and the manufacturing infrastructure, negotiating key partnerships and licensing agreements and growing the business’ global presence in the U.S, Europe and South East Asia. In the middle of 2003 he joined Symmoprhix, a venture backed spin out from Applied Materials with the goal of supplying production equipment to the display market. As VP of business development, he identified key market segments and customers for the Symmorphix technology. Some time after the successful sale of Symmorphix to a private group, he decided to join the Cambrios team to be a part of the unique opportunity its technology offers as a bridge between biotechnology and semiconductor material manufacturing. |
