Mr. Granat founded and served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling/Carl Marks Capital, Inc. in Great Neck, New York, a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) that makes equity investments in small to medium-sized businesses. Previously, he was the President and CEO of Sussex Leasing Corp., an equipment leasing company. He was also the founder and CEO of Granite Equipment Leasing Corp., an American Stock Exchange listed company, which he ran as a financial services company for sixteen years.Mr. Granat is a Past Chairman of The National Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NASBIC) and continues to serve on its Executive Committee. He is also Past Chairman of the Northeastern Regional Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NERASBIC), the industry’s Regional Board and a Past President and Director of The American Association of Equipment Lessors, the equipment leasing industry’s association.Mr. Granat received the 1995 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards sponsored by Ernst & Young, INC Magazine, Merrill Lynch and others, is a frequent lecturer and contributor of articles related to financial services, and has participated at the White House Conference on Small Business.Mr. Granat has served on and chaired the boards of The Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care & Rehabilitation, the Metro New York Chapter of the Young President’s Organization, and Advisory Board of the School of Management at Syracuse University, from which he graduated in 1959. In addition, he has served on the Boards of several private and public companies, including the Long Island Regional Advisory Board of KeyBank. |
