Han Westendorp, a twenty-year veteran of the semiconductor industry, holds this position since January 1, 2008. He was Chief Operating Officer Front-end Operations from February 2003 until January 2008. From July 1999 until February 2003, Mr. Westendorp was General Manager of ASM Europe where he supervised the sales, service and marketing of all ASM International’s Front-end product lines in Europe. As General Manager he was also responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of ASM International’s vertical furnace product line and during his tenure ASM Europe opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for its A400 and A412 vertical furnace products.
Mr. Westendorp first joined ASM in 1986 as a physicist and was a key contributor in the development of one of the most successful ion implanters ever designed. Mr. Westendorp spent an initial five years with ASM Internatonal and returned to the company in 1999 after eight years with Tokyo Electon Ltd. (TEL). A recognized expert in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Westendorp has published more than thirty-five technical papers, holds seven patents and has seven additional patents pending. He earned a doctorate degree in physics and mathematics in 1986, and a master’s in physics and mathematics in 1981 from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. |
