Dr. Benouar comes to Sensys with extensive experience in the transportation industry. Most recently, he served as the Director of the California Center for Innovative Transportation (CCIT), based at the University of California, Berkeley. Established by the University of California and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in 2001, CCIT facilitates the development, commercialization, and deployment of promising transportation technologies and systems. Before his role at CCIT, Dr. Benouar spent many years working for Caltrans. As California's Chief Traffic Engineer, Dr. Benouar oversaw the state-wide Caltrans Transportation Operations Program, a program that included more than 1,600 employees managing the operation of more than 48,000 lane miles of state highway system. Dr. Benouar is a registered Professional Engineer and holds a doctorate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Transportation) from the University of California, Berkeley. |
