Gregory Leitner Biography :

Gregory Leitner is a member of the General Business Litigation Practice Group in the Chattanooga, Tennessee office of Husch & Eppenberger, LLC and also serves on the firm's Management Committee. He serves as the outside general counsel for Olin Corporation's Chlor Alkali Chemical Division headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee. Greg has concentrated on complex litigation and corporate representation and advice. He has been involved in several matters attracting national attention including the Tennessee mercury incident which resulted in environmental litigation with the Department of Justice representing the United States, labor litigation with the State of Tennessee (TOSHA), and with 58 plaintiffs seeking hundreds of millions of dollars.

Greg defended a publicly held chemical manufacturer in litigation arising out of a Tennessee fog incident where 15 people died and many more were injured. It was alleged that the industries caused the fog on Interstate 75. He defended a publicly held regional fast food company when a large number of people contracted hepatitis from contaminated food. Greg also was successful in having a publicly held company placed into involuntary bankruptcy and recovering approximately $8 million in cash and credits for the client.

Greg assisted in the defense of a chemical manufacturer who operated an Oak Ridge plant that developed the hydrogen bomb; it was alleged that mercury escaped and contaminated local fish which allegedly resulted in the deaths of the plaintiffs who ate the fish. He prosecuted a civil case where the client, a major air products company, was supplied defective carbon dioxide contaminated with hydrogen cyanide, which ended up in retail carbonated beverages and in medical products resulting in a FDA medical product recall.

Greg has prosecuted many large commercial cases as plaintiff, resulting in many multi-million dollar settlements.

Additionally, Greg has also been involved in such varied matters as assisting in the defense of a class-action labor suit (wage and hour), assisting in the defense of a class-action suit against a major pharmaceutical company, and assisting a client in a government civil/criminal antitrust investigation of an industry.

Greg is listed in Who's Who in American Law. Prior to joining Husch, Greg was a member in the Tennessee firm of Leitner, Williams, Dooley & Napolitan, PLLC, where he practiced for 20 years.
