Gregory J. Maier is the President of the firm. He is also the managing partner of the firm's Electrical/Mechanical Practice Group. Before joining the firm in 1970, he was employed as an examiner by the US Patent & Trademark Office from 1965 through 1969, and by the Office of Naval Research between 1969 and 1970.
Mr Maier is a past chair of the American Bar Association, section of intellectual property law, and is a past member of the Executive Committee of AIPPI-US. He is a member of the IPO, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the Computer Law Association, and is involved in other Bar-related activities. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on Patent Law issues, and has acted as a moderator in programmes sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation and the IPO, and has represented the ABA/IPL at the legislative round table sponsored by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr Maier has lectured and published internationally on a variety of topics ranging from alternatives to litigation to protection of computer-related inventions. He has an abiding interest in the development of patent law in the area of computer software protection.
Mr Maier earned his law degree in 1969 from the Georgetown University Law Center, and his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester in 1965.
Mr Maier is admitted to the Bars of the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the US Supreme Court. |
