Greg Smith is vice president of business development for DCP Midstream Partners. He is responsible for business development, mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy, planning and development.
Before joining DCP in September 2005, Smith worked in a similar capacity as vice president, corporate development for DCP’s general partner, Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS). He started his career with DEFS, located in Denver, Col., in 1996 as an energy attorney focusing in the areas of regulatory affairs, mergers and acquisitions as well as commercial activities. Starting in January 2000, he took on corporate development responsibilities for DEFS, including acting as dealmaker for DEFS’ previous MLP GP subsidiary. In that capacity for DEFS, he also had responsibility for corporate strategy and planning, mergers and acquisitions, business development, financial forecasting and analytics, and capital approvals. He was named director of commercial development in 2001. Smith was named vice president of corporate development in May 2002.
From 1992 to 1996, he served as an energy attorney for El Paso Natural Gas in El Paso, Texas, where he had various responsibilities for the merger and acquisition, regulatory, commercial and corporate activities of El Paso Natural Gas and Mojave Pipeline Company.
Smith received a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Iowa as well as a master of business administration degree from the University of Denver. He also received his juris doctor degree from the University of Iowa. He is currently certified to practice law in both Texas and Iowa.
A native of Des Monies, Iowa, Smith was born in 1966. He and his wife, Marnie, have a son. |
