Gordy Gouveia is an associate attorney at Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin LLC. Mr. Gouveia concentrates his practice in corporate reorganization and bankruptcy litigation, representing debtors, creditors, committees, trustees and lenders in chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
After graduation from law school, Mr. Gouveia served as law clerk to the Honorable Eugene R. Wedoff, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. As law clerk, Mr. Gouveia had extensive exposure to complex bankruptcy issues, conducted research and drafted rulings for a variety of chapter 7 and 11 business bankruptcies, including the United Air Lines bankruptcy case.
Mr. Gouveia is a 2004 graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School where he was on the Dean’s List and provided pro bono legal services at the Vanderbilt Business Law Clinic. Mr. Gouveia was also a member of the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment Law and Practice in which he published, Making a Mountain Out of a Mogul: Jeremy Bloom v. NCAA and Unjustified Denial of Compensation Under NCAA Amateurism Rules, 6 Vand. J. Ent. L. & Prac. 22 (2003).
Mr. Gouveia currently serves as co-chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section Bankruptcy Committee.
