Glenn F. Tilton has served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of UAL Corporation, the parent company of United Airlines, since 2002. Before joining UAL Corporation, Tilton served as vice chairman of the board of directors of ChevronTexaco Corp. and served as the interim chairman of Dynegy, Inc. Prior to the formation of ChevronTexaco Corporation, Tilton was chairman and chief executive officer of Texaco Inc., a position he was elected to in February 2001. In that role Tilton was instrumental in the planning and completion of the merger. Tilton was elected senior vice president of Texaco Inc. in 1995. He was appointed president of Texaco’s Global Businesses Unit in 1997 with responsibility for Texaco’s worldwide refining and marketing operations, including its joint ventures in the United States and Asia, along with its global lubricants, aviation and marine fuels businesses. In 1992, he was named president of Texaco Europe, which encompassed operations in 22 countries in that region. He was appointed president of Texaco USA in 1994. He had responsibility for Texaco’s integrated businesses throughout the United States, which included exploration; producing; refining; marketing and trading; and transportation. Tilton was appointed chairman of Texaco Ltd. in 1991. He had responsibility for the Texaco group of companies operating and holding interest in exploration; production; refining; supply and transportation; and marketing operations in the United Kingdom. Tilton was elected vice president of Texaco Inc. in 1989, a year after being named President of Texaco Refining and Marketing, Inc. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations in 1970. Presently, Mr. Tilton serves on the president’s advisory board at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University and is a member of the Aviation Transport Association’s board of directors. He is a member of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, and is a member of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. He also serves on the board of directors of TXU Corp., a Dallas-based energy company that manages a portfolio of competitive and regulated energy businesses, and is on the board of trustees for the Field Museum in Chicago. |
