Glen D. Shaffer, Maj Gen, USAF (Ret) is the President and COO of dNovus RDI, a woman-owned, veteran-owned,small Information Technology (IT) firm headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. General Shaffer is responsible for leading our company’s operations, programs and plans, and ensures we remain our customer’s best partner. He sets key operational, technical, and development goals and manages the ways we achieve them. He builds teams within the company and establishes key relationships with others. Most importantly, he is one member of a fully integrated leadership team at dNovus. General Shaffer joined the private sector in the fall of 2003. Prior to becoming the President of dNovus, he was the Director for Intelligence, J2, for the Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) in Washington, D.C. General Shaffer received his commission in the United States Air Force in 1970 as a distinguished graduate of Otterbein College's ROTC program. His early assignments as an intelligence officer were to Strategic Air Command B-52 Bomb Wings in Ohio and Guam. He was later assigned to Headquarters Tactical Air Command, Langley AFB, Virginia, where he worked intelligence applications, unit support, and targeting programs. His first joint assignment was to Headquarters U.S. Atlantic Command, Norfolk, Virginia, as a target intelligence officer and early mission planner for the Navy’s Tomahawk Cruise Missile. He was then assigned to the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, where he was a nuclear plans and policy staff officer. He later led efforts at Strategic Air Command Headquarters to develop capabilities to locate and target Soviet Mobile ICBMs. Glen then attended National War College. He re-entered the joint community as Deputy Commander of the Joint Intelligence Center Europe at Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany, and was subsequently designated as the first Commander for the U.S. European Command Joint Analysis Center, Royal Air Force Molesworth, England, in 1991. In 1994 he took Command of the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Patrick AFB, Florida. After selection for Brigadier General he served as Assistant Deputy Director for Operations at the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland. He assumed the position of Director of Intelligence, J2, Headquarters U.S. European Command, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany, in 1997. He was assigned as the Director of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington D.C. from 1999-2002. In this capacity he was responsible for all USAF ISR and Information Warfare systems and operations and was the USAF’s Senior Intelligence Officer in the national intelligence community. From July 2002 until June 2003, he was Director for Intelligence, J2, on the Joint Staff, serving the SECDEF, the Chairman, and the JCS. General Shaffer holds a Master of Science Degree from the George Washington University. He is active in several national Intelligence Community advisory forums. He is also a Trustee of Son Shine Ministries of Azle, Texas. He and his wife Kathy have two children and reside in San Antonio, Texas. |
