Alliance for Health Ginny M. Seyferth, founder of Seyferth Spaulding Tennyson Inc. (SST), opened the firm in 1984. Today SST is recognized as one of the Midwest's leading public relations firms. With nearly 25 years’ experience in both corporate and agency public relations, Ginny has provided counsel on media strategy, issues and crisis management, public affairs and strategic planning to clients in education, health care, retail, consumer goods and manufacturing.

With offices in Grand Rapids and Detroit, Mich., the firm serves clients in every aspect of today's public relations practice, including: media relations, environmental management, public affairs, financial relations, issues/crisis communications, employee/labor relations, special events and conference planning.

Ginny began her career in the public relations department of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, later joining the AMOCO Oil Company’s public affairs department. Subsequently, she led media and issues management for Amway Corporation and several of its subsidiaries.

In 1984, Ginny created Seyferth & Associates, Inc., the public relations firm that in 2000 became SST. Today, SST’s practice serves a list of more than 90 clients, including: BISSELL Inc., Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Cole’s Bakery, the Detroit Medical Center, the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Georgia Pacific, Gordon Food Service, McDonald’s Restaurants, Plante & Moran and The Taubman Company.

While establishing and growing her public relations firm, Ginny has continued to expand her own practice to encompass a wide range of ongoing communications consulting. She has served as a creative consultant on the Maury Povich program, "Innocent Fun; Deadly Results" and was an executive producer of the Diane Sawyer program, "Sex Can Wait."

In 2002, SST was ranked by PRWeek magazine among the top 40 U.S. public relations firms in health care client revenues. Ginny’s health care practice has covered strategic communications, media relations and issues management for more than 50 hospitals and health care systems in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, New York and Tennessee.

Ginny has taken a strategic role in several corporation turnarounds and reorganizations in which she has led the communications efforts throughout the process. Her recent clients have been several hospitals, manufacturers and retail organizations.

Ginny’s counsel has also extended to retail and consumer goods with clients ranging from Perrigo, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, McDonald’s Restaurants and Meijer.

Ginny has been honored with more than 50 local, regional and national public relations and business awards. In 1992, she won the prestigious national Silver Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of America.

In March 2003, the Grand Rapids Business Journal named Ginny one of the most influential women in West Michigan. In 2002 and 2003, she was a finalist in Ernst & Young’s West Michigan Entrepreneur of the Year competition. Seyferth Spaulding Tennyson Inc. was also recently named one of the "101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" by the Michigan Business & Professional Association.

Ginny has served on local, state and national boards for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and has served as an adjunct professor and assisted in the development of public relations curricula at Grand Valley State University, The Ohio State University, Ferris State University and Western Michigan University.

Ginny frequently speaks on strategic communications planning, public opinion and public relations issues.
