Gérard Mazet joined Sullivan & Cromwell in January 2001 as a partner after serving as a partner of Jeantet & Associés. Mr. Mazet specializes in domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and strategic alliances. Mr. Mazet is regularly involved in major transactions representing purchasers, sellers and joint venture partners of both listed and private companies. In recent years Mr. Mazet has been particularly involved in transnational mergers or similar transactions. He represented Sidel in its acquisition by Tetra Laval, Scor in its acquisition of Sorema, Alcan in its successful bid on Pechiney and France Télécom on its acquisition of minority shares in Orange. He is advising Aventis against the hostile offer launched by Sanofi-Synthélabo. With respect to non-listed companies, Mr. Mazet has extensive experience in open bid procedures. He acts as arbitrator in acquisition-related disputes. Mr. Mazet is a member of the Paris Bar and former chair of the International Committee of the French National Bar Council (CNB). He is named in the most recent editions of the Global Counsel's Merger and Acquisitions Handbook and the IFLR's Merger and Acquisition Lawyers. |
