Gerald Lema is corporate vice president and president, Asia Pacific, with responsibility for the company's operation in Japan, China/Hong Kong, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Lema has more than 18 years of pharmaceutical, diagnostics and healthcare experience in Asia, Japan, Europe, North/South America and the Middle East/Africa. Prior to joining Baxter in 2005, Lema held several positions in sales, marketing and business development at Abbott Laboratories. His most recent position with Abbott was corporate vice president, Asia Pacific, and chairman and representative director, Abbott Japan, in Tokyo.
Lema is a frequent speaker in business forums on subjects ranging from leadership, global expansion and strategy. He was a recent speaker at Thunderbird's Global Business Forum in Tokyo, Wharton Business School's Global Business Forum Asia in Philadelphia, and at the Economist Corporate Network in Japan and Asia.
Lema earned a Bachelor of Science, Engineering, from Universidad del Valle, Colombia and a Master of Business Administration from the Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, New Orleans. He is co-author of Managing Debt Equity Swaps published in the Massachusetts Institute of technology's Sloan Management Review, Fall 1987. |
