Gerald E. Bisbee Jr., Ph.D., is a member of Cerner Corporation’s Board of Directors. He is chairman and CEO of ReGen Biologics, Inc. ReGen develops, manufactures and markets orthopedic tissue repair products for unmet markets worldwide. Prior to his positions at ReGen, Dr. Bisbee was Chairman and CEO of APACHE Medical Systems, Inc., a company with the preeminent database for high cost, high risk hospital patients. The APACHE software system provided detailed outcomes information to physicians allowing them to more precisely manage the quality and costs of intensive care and step down unit patients.
Dr. Bisbee has been President of the Hospital Research and Educational Trust, the research and development arm of the American Hospital Association. He has also been chairman and CEO of Sequel Corporation, an orthopedic rehabilitation practice management and manufacturing company. During the 1980s, Dr. Bisbee was director of the corporate finance health care group of Kidder Peabody & Co.
Dr. Bisbee holds a Ph.D. from Yale University in chronic disease epidemiology. His dissertation is part of the development of DRGs. Dr. Bisbee is published in the health finance area and he is co-author of the first national study on the incidence and prevalence of musculo-skeletal conditions. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bisbee was on the faculty of Yale University and he taught healthcare finance courses at the business schools of Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. |
