Georgia concentrates her practice on intellectual property litigation and has experience in patent, trademark and copyright infringement, as well as cases involving claims of false advertising, unfair competition, breach of contract and misappropriation. She has worked extensively on all aspects of the litigation process, including the preparation of initial pleadings and joint defense agreements, fact development and depositions, written and oral motion practice, negotiation of settlements and trial. Georgia’s experience includes representing clients in patent infringement matters concerning a wide variety of technological fields including the ubiquitous Blackberry device, payment and authentication systems for online sales, automotive transmission cables, medical products, pharmaceuticals and polymer manufacturing. She also has drafted several patent opinions and assisted in numerous freedom to practice projects. Georgia has had substantial experience litigating trademark and false advertising disputes for clients in various fields, including the financial services industry, the food services industry, pharmaceuticals and luxury brands. She has advised consumer products companies regarding the substantiation of advertising claims and provided trademark advice on various types of product packaging. Georgia also has litigated copyright claims and provided copyright advice to clients in disputes involving textiles, financial newsletters and photography. Georgia is a member of the American Bar Association and previously was an attorney with Jones Day, Cleveland and New York, and with Goodwin Procter of New York. She is also an adjunct professor of trademark law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. She joined Calfee in 2005. |
