George Budzynski is a 30-year career professional in the fields of financial and operations management. He holds a BA in accounting and computer science from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and an MBA in finance from the University of Detroit.In 1983, Mr. Budzynski was recruited by First Bank System, now US Bancorp based in Minneapolis, MN, to join the financial services holding company as Vice President of Financial Accounting and Assistant Controller. From 1983 to 2001, Mr. Budzynski held a series of officer positions with increasing scopes of responsibility for Financial Accounting, Corporate Trust Operations, Procurement Services and Shared Services. In 2001, he left US Bancorp to serve as consulting Chief Operating Officer for high technology professional services firm Market Ready, Inc., and within several months was recruited to join Conseco Finance Corporation, to serve as Corporate Vice President, Accounting Operations and Shared Services.Mr. Budzynski’s chief accomplishments while in the banking industry (1974 2001) include the integration of over 40 separate internal accounting groups into a single consolidated function; conversion of multiple General Ledger systems into a single consolidated system; integration of accounting functions from 15 bank acquisitions; management of corporate trust operations; due diligence and conversion of major books of business and system conversions on bank acquisitions.Further achievements included the establishment of corporate contract administration function for unified purchasing resulting in $26 million in annual savings; implementation of an internal purchasing card product resulting in $1 million of new revenue; implementation of a web-based employee transaction model covering reimbursement, benefits enrollment and payroll time tracking which resulted in a 20% reduction in administrative headcount and 25% cost reduction; outsourcing of HR transactions reducing costs by $2 million/year and doubling processing volume.Mr. Budzynski achieved numerous key milestones while consulting in technology service operations and during his tenure with Conseco Finance Corporation, the second-largest sub-prime lending operation and largest manufactured housing lender in the US. These included structuring of contract management and a profitability-based service model for professional services; initiation of a new business line to meet market needs in a climate of severe economic downturn; spearheaded initiation of ten Six Sigma projects to improve process efficiency; supported loan servicing of the nation’s largest manufactured housing loan portfolio; achieved $35 million savings in direct corporate expenses during pre-bankruptcy phase, very aggressive cash control over $60 million/month burn rate, resulting in achievement of positive cash flow during bankruptcy process.As a Management Consultant, Mr. Budzynski managed the liquidation of the remaining assets and the resolution of outstanding claims arising from the Conseco Finance bankruptcy. He also managed the integration of a 300,000 loan portfolio purchased by Green Tree Services, and the sale and transfer of the American Business Financial Services loan portfolio.Mr. Budzynski has served as a member of the US Bancorp Corporate Benefits Oversight Committee, Chair of the US Bancorp Benefits Advisory Committee, Executive Committee of Conseco Finance Corporation, Board Member and Treasurer of Project Jeremiah, a non-profit career development and housing program. |
