A native of Roxboro, NC, Mr. Perkins graduated from North Carolina State University with a Degree in Textile Technology in 1964. Upon graduation, George worked in sales positions for the J.P. Stevens Company and Federal Spinning Company before founding Imperial Cotton Mills in Sanford in 1980. Mr. Perkins served as President and CEO of Imperial until 1987. In 1988, George formed Pioneer Yarn Mills where he served as President and CEO until Pioneer was purchased by Unifi, Inc. in 1993. With Unifi, George served as President of the Spun Yarns Division and was also elected to Unifi's Board of Directors. In 1996, George founded Frontier Spinning Mills, Inc. where he serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. |
