George R. Hearst, Jr. is chairman of the board of Hearst Corporation, one of the world's largest private companies engaged in a broad range of publishing, broadcasting and diversified communications activities. Hearst is a grandson of company founder William Randolph Hearst.
George Hearst has been a director of Hearst Corporation for 40 years and is a testamentary trustee under the Will of William Randolph Hearst. Prior to his election as chairman in March 1996, Hearst was a vice president of Hearst Corporation and group head of Hearst Real Estate.
He has also served the company as publisher of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner and Los Angeles Evening Herald Express. Hearst is also president of The Hearst Foundation and a director of The William Randolph Hearst Foundation. These two foundations are extensively involved in funding many educational, medical, artistic and cultural enterprises across the country. |
