Freedley Hunsicker Biography :

Freedley Hunsicker began at Drinker Biddle & Reath in 1969. Freed, a partner who has served most recently as chair of Drinker Biddle's Labor and Employment practice, has represented employers in a broad range of labor and employment issues including union avoidance, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge and sexual harassment litigation, collective bargaining, labor arbitration and day-to-day counseling concerning the host of regulatory issues that confront today's employer.

Employment Litigation. Freed combines his understanding of disability issues with extensive years of civil litigation experience where he has successfully defended employers in race, sex, age and handicap discrimination cases, as well as in defamation and wrongful discharge cases, in state and federal courts, trial and appellate, as well as in state and federal administration proceedings. He has also represented employers in defending against sexual harassment claims.

Labor Relations. Freed regularly represents employers seeking to remain free of union representation in campaigns. For those clients who are unionized, he has negotiated collective bargaining agreements in the health care, education, service and manufacturing industries, and he practiced before the National Labor Relations Board. He has represented employers in labor arbitrations, and is experienced in secondary boycott and construction industry labor disputes.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Freed's knowledge of the disabled rights movement has been an outgrowth of his involvement with the Overbrook School for the Blind, where he served as president of its board of managers from 1987 through 1994. Freed has tracked the ADA from before its passage in July, 1990. His articles on the ADA have appeared in Personnel Journal, Focus Magazine, The ABA Journal, The Legal Intelligencer, The Hospital Personnel Reporter, The New Jersey Law Journal and The Journal of Law and Education. He has lectured on the ADA before groups such as the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Philadelphia Survey Group, the Delaware Valley Human Resources Forum, and the Federal Reserve Bank.

In General. Freed was named in the last two editions of Best Lawyers in America and Who's Who in America. He is co?author of NLRB Remedies for Unfair Labor Practices (2d ed. 1986), published by the Industrial Research Unit of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Freed has practiced extensively in the field of higher education and is a regular contributor to The Journal of Law and Education.
