Frederick S. Gold is Chair of Shipman & Goodwin LLP’s business litigation practice. He is a graduate of Tufts University (Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude) and Columbia Law School. He practices in the area of complex business litigation, with an emphasis on financial industry clients and intellectual property matters. He has represented hedge funds, lenders, investment partnerships, investors, real estate developers, universities, and public and closely held corporations in matters involving financing agreements, securities claims, antitrust, civil RICO, unfair competition, breach of fiduciary duty, complex foreclosures and restructurings, negotiable instruments, management of institutional funds, lender liability, and claims involving software, source code, trade secrets and copyrights. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts, and in private arbitrations and mediations.

Since 1996, Mr. Gold has been an adjunct member of the faculty at Yale Law School, where he has taught Trial Practice and Advanced Civil Litigation. He has been a frequent faculty member at regional advocacy programs offered by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. From 1994 through 2005, he was chair of the Connecticut Trial Advocacy Institute co-sponsored by the Connecticut Bar Association and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He is AV peer review rated by Martindale-Hubbell, was selected as one of the nation's top ten Commercial Litigation Lawyers by the United States Lawyer Ranking in 2007, and was listed as a 2008 Connecticut Super Lawyer® and 2009 Connecticut Super Lawyer for business litigation by "Law & Politics". He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the Fairfield County Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.
