Mr. Russell joined TXCO in March 2006 as Vice President and General Counsel, reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible for all corporate legal matters, including acquisitions, regulatory, contracts and litigation. Prior to joining TXCO, Mr. Russell was Managing Partner of the San Antonio law firm of Barton, Schneider, Russell & East L.L.P. and previously was a shareholder in Cox & Smith Inc. and Small, Craig & Werkenthin P.C.; as well as Vice President and General Counsel of Sanchez-O’Brien Oil & Gas Corp. He has more than 33 years of legal experience with an emphasis on the energy industry and corporate law, including more than 20 years as lead outside counsel to TXCO. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin in 1971 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1973. |
