Frank H. Brod is the Corporate Vice President and Controller of The Dow Chemical Company. He serves as an ex-officio member of the Finance Committee of the Company's Board of Directors.
Brod is responsible for all of Dow's global accounting activities including compliance and control, financial reporting, accounting transactional work processes, financial information systems, as well as financial standards, planning, and financial support to Dow's global Businesses. Brod previously served as Global Accounting Director for The Dow Chemical Company. From 1995 to 1998, Brod was the Controller of Dow Europe, headquartered in Horgen Switzerland, and Finance Director for Dow's Global Building and Construction Business.
His career with Dow began in Freeport, Texas in 1975, when he joined as a cost accountant. Brod has held a variety of financial and information technology positions including accounting systems specialist at Dowell, operations analyst in Hydrocarbons and corporate financial and consolidations accountant in Midland, Michigan. In 1988, he was appointed controller of Essex Chemical (now Dow Automotive) in Clifton, New Jersey. In 1991, Brod moved to London, England where he was appointed financial controller and information systems director for Dow U.K. and Ireland. In 1993, Brod returned to the U.S. to lead the global efforts to reengineer the financial and statutory reporting requirements.
Brod serves on the Board of Directors of a number of Dow affiliates, including Dow Credit Corporation; Dow Holdings, Inc.; Dow Financial Holding, Inc.; Diamond Capital Management, Inc.; Dow Hydrocarbons Resources, Inc.; and Liana Limited, a holding company for Dow insurance subsidiaries.
Brod is a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board's Emerging Issues Task Force. He is the immediate past Chairman of Financial Executives International's technical Committee on Corporate Reporting and is a member of FEI's Board of Directors. He is a Director of Wolverine Bank, FSB, serving on the Audit, Finance, and Planning Committees. Brod is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives International, The Texas Society of CPAs, the Michigan Association of CPAs, Standards Advisory Group of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PLAOB) and member of Standards Advisory Counsel of the International Accounting Standard Board.
Brod holds a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has been a recipient of the Sells Award of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Allred Award from the Texas Society of CPAs for professional excellence. |
