Frank Edwards is President of the Carl M. Freeman Companies. Prior to this position he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Carl M. Freeman Companies. In addition to the traditional role of CFO, Frank also held line management responsibility for the operations of the Company’s Real Estate Services and Sports & Hospitality business segments and oversaw the Company’s Strategic Planning, Legal, Human Resources and Information Technology functions. Since joining the company in 1999, Frank launched the Company’s Real Estate Services business segment (which included the formation of Atlantic Community Titles Services and the acquisitions of Seacoast Realty and First Republic Mortgage Corp.), established the organizational and management structure of the Sports & Hospitality business segment and was instrumental in the acquisition and redevelopment vision and execution for the Historic Tidewater Inn and Restaurant Local in Easton, Maryland. Frank also led a complete transformation of the Freeman Companies’ information technology and accounting organization systems and processes to support the Companies’ growth and diversification, established an in-house legal department and led a recent re-branding initiative. Before joining the Freeman Companies, Frank served as the Chief Operating Officer of Interealty, Inc. which was owned by a consortium of the Tribune Company, Cox Enterprises, Knight-Ridder and Advance Publications, Inc., and had operations in 43 states and Canada. Initially, he managed Interealty’s strategic planning, human resources, finance and management information systems (MIS) functions, and later assumed responsibility for the company's marketing and sales, research and development, printing and technical delivery organizations. Frank’s involvement with Interealty and its predecessor organizations spanned 17 years. Frank held a number of senior management positions with PRC, Inc. starting in 1982 and served as Chief Financial Officer of The Commercial & International Systems Group of PRC, Inc. from 1984 until 1994. (PRC, Inc. was a NYSE publicly traded company, which later became a subsidiary of The Black & Decker Corporation.) Frank was instrumental in the growth of The Commercial & International Systems Group and had extensive involvement with strategy formulation and business acquisitions. Frank performed audit and management consulting work for Touche Ross & Co.’s Washington D.C. office from 1976 until 1982 serving such clients as Ryland Homes and the Montgomery County and Prince George’s County, Maryland governments. Frank earned his bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating magna cum laude in 1975. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1976. He has also completed the American Management Association’s Executive Development Seminar and continues to pursue professional development education opportunities in the fields of real estate, finance, technology, business leadership and general management. Frank was a speaker and panelist for the RIS Media Annual Leadership Conference in 2005, addressing the topic of real estate companies expanding into peripheral financial services businesses. Additionally, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. |
