An accredited instructor, approved by the States of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, California, Colorado, New Jersey and Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers, to teach (Environmental Hazards & Their Effect on Value, Architectural Styles & Building Types, FHA/HUD Site Inspection , FHA/HUD Test Prep, and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice 7 hour review) to real estate appraisers seeking continuing education credit for recertification.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Business Experience Design Builder Mid 1980's as a real estate developer I was the CEO of Design build company that employed 36 employees. During that period of time I designed and built over $20,000,000 in median priced housing in the Cambridge, Massachusetts and the Greater Boston Area. Our company also supplied design and consulting services to other developers in the region, including environmental consulting.

1986 I designed and developed an upscale line of colonial revival homes to be factory built for Keylock Homes of Suncook NH (modular housing company) including the first return stairway in a modular design.

Home Inspection Educator I have taught hundreds of people to be home inspectors through the AHI 5 day, ten day and distance learning home inspection training programs.

Educator 1991 provided my first professional public presentation to first time home buyers as part of a required MHFA (Massachusetts Housing and Finance Authority) borrower educational requirement.

Educator Taught classes sanctioned Vermont Chapter of The Appraisal Institute, the National Association of Realtors (GRI ONE AND GRI 3), Massachusetts Housing and Finance Authority, Department of Taxation and Valuation State of Maine, Vermont Department of Health. The topics included home inspection, subdivisions, sight development and environmental hazards.

Consultant Conducted over 4000 individual inspections, real estate appraisals, lead paint (XRF), radon testing, IAQ(indoor air quality) including mold, wood-boring insect certifications septic system testing and H2O sampling over the last 25 years.

Consultant Supervised or provided consulting for environmental mitigation and remediation since 1978 including lead paint, radon, domestic water supply, UST (underground storage tanks), asbestos and mold.

In 1986 I provided consulting to the city of Boston that resulted in an national award winning housing program (letter of recommendation attached).

(AHI) a real estate consulting firm whose primary focus is pre-purchase inspections, household environmental audits, including phase 1 audits, real estate appraisals and professional education. In January 2003 AHI was rated by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the top 500 Franchises in America.

Writing Experience Author of three books "The Everyday Environmental Screening Manual" which is used as a manual for seminars throughout the USA, copyrighted 1994, "How to Start and Operate a Home Inspection Business" a 150 page how to inspection manual for real-estate appraisers and home inspectors and "The Somerville Green Pages" a 21 page recycling manual which was published & distributed to 36,000 households(co-author). I am the author of dozens of articles in national appraisal, inspection and environmental trade journals including Real Estate Valuations, and FREA's Communicator, Columns (a legal journal dedicated to mold litigation) and Working R.E. work "Common Sense About Household Environmental Hazards".

Video and Television Experience Has developed a distance learning series for home inspectors featuring 13 videos including 5.5 hours on environmental hazards and "Mold A Growing Concern" ( a mold documentary with thousands of copies distributed to real estate professionals across the USA), history, health effects, testing, and mitigation, impact on value and due diligence. I have appeared as a featured guest on a New York television talk show aired by Cable Vision discussing home inspections and environmental testing.

Expert Witness Experience Qualified as an expert providing testimony on a wide range of appraisal, construction and real estate issues and cases in Middlesex Superior Court(Mass.), Suffolk County(Mass.), Newport Superior Court(New Hampshire), Rutland District Court(VT),"The American Arbitration Association, Pittsburg, PA.

Political Experience Secretary of the Conservation Commission for the City of Somerville from 1986 - 1988. Conservation commissions in Massachusetts are part of the municipal executive branch and are the direct municipal representative to the State Dept. of Environmental Protection enforcing the Wetlands Protection Act. As secretary responsibilities included acting as the liaison to the appropriate municipal and/or state agencies. Drafting and submitting "Orders of Condition" to the Dept. of Environmental Protection detailing the cities requirements being placed on developers seeking permits. Said orders had to be in concert with complex environmental state and federal regulations and technology typically utilized to demonstrate specific performance.

1999 - 2002 Selectman Town of Randolph, VT responsibilities included budget development for all aspects of town government, normal operating budget, and capitol budgets and unique to our town the closing of a land fill budget as well as creating laws in concert with those of our state and country to the benefit of Randolph residents at large.
