Francesco Violante is Managing Director, SITA Information Networking Computing (INC), which provides application and integrated solution services to airlines, airports and Government immigration offices worldwide.
Since his appointment in June 2003, Francesco has been responsible for the strategic direction and profitable growth of a company that has a current turnover of $670 million and employs 2,600 people worldwide. Reporting to the SITA INC supervisory board, he has full commercial profit and loss responsibility for SITA INC.
Before joining SITA, Francesco was Managing Director and Regional Vice President at EDS Italia SpA, with responsibility for Italy, Israel, Turkey and Greece. Prior assignments included a brief period with SITA as Head of its Applications Services Division, CIO of TELECOM ITALIA with joint responsibilities as President of FINSIEL and TELESOFT, and senior management positions with Digital Equipment Corporation including Vice President Communications Industries and Vice President Marketing Europe.
Francesco Violante is a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of IONA Technologies, the software company is based in Ireland and listed on NASDAQ.
An Italian national, Francesco is married with two children. He is based at SITA's global headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. |
