In 2002, Mr. Scruggs retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Scruggs Company, a road construction company headquartered in Valdosta, Georgia, where he had worked for 37 years. Mr. Scruggs also served as the Vice President and Secretary of Civiltec, Inc., another road construction company, from 2002 until 2003. Mr. Scruggs was a director of the Bank from 1989 until 1999 and was reelected a director in 2001. He has served as Chairman of the Bank's Loan Committee since 2002 and a member since 2001, as Chairman of its Nominating and Governance Committee from March 2004 to February 2005 when it was dissolved, and as Chairman of the Company’s Nominating Committee since February 2005.
