Fei-fei Chao Biography :

Fei-Fei’s broad practice covers all phases of representation before the US Patent and Trademark Office and other intellectual property related matters, including, but not limited to, technology licensing; opinion; due diligence and patent portfolio design; and intellectual property litigation. In patent prosecution, Fei-Fei’s broad practice covers biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, natural products, electronics and mechanical art. She is particularly well known for her successful representation of clients in the field of traditional Chinese herbal medicines. In intellectual property litigation, Fei-Fei has represented clients in trade secret, trademark and patent infringement litigation in various courts (including appellate courts and before the International Trade Commission (ITC)) in the United States. She is particularly known for her successful representation of clients in litigation at the ITC under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 and involving Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) and FDA matters. Her litigation experience covers a variety of technologies, including, but not limited to, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, electronics, power supplies, LCD televisions and monitors, integrated circuit designs, computer software, and batteries.

Fei-Fei holds a doctorate in biochemistry, and has seven years of research and teaching experience.

Meridian Diagnostic Inc. v. Apollo Biotechnology Co. (Federal District Court for the District of Ohio at Cincinnati). Represented Apollo Biotechnology against Meridian Diagnostic Inc. for trade secret misappropriation and violation of non-competition agreement. (2000)

Bayer Pharmaceutical Co. v. Carlsbad Technology Inc. (Federal District Court for the Southern District of California at San Diego). Represented Carlsbad Technology Inc. against Bayer for patent infringement, which involved Bayer’s blockbuster drug Ciprofloxacin. (2001-2002)

Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Co. v. Carlsbad Technology Inc. (Federal District Court for the District of Illinois at Indianapolis). Represented Carlsbad Technology Inc. against Eli Lilly for patent infringement, which involved Eli Lilly’s blockbuster drug Prozac. (2002-2003)

Richter Gideon Pharmaceutical Co. v. Carlsbad Technology Inc. et al. (Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York). Represented Carlsbad Technology Inc. and Andrx Pharmaceutical Co. against Richter Gideon Pharmaceutical Co. for patent infringement, which involved famotidine. (2003-2004)

Leader Technology Co. v. MultiNational Resources Co. (State Court of New Hampshire at Concord and AAA Abritration). Represented Leader Technology Co. of Taiwan to sue MultiNational Resources Co. for non-payment of fees. (2003-2005)

Shanghai Meihao Electric Inc. v. Leviton Manufacturing Co. (Federal District Court for the District of Maryland at Baltimore). Represented Shanghai Meihao Electric Inc. against Leviton Manufacturing Co. for patent infringement, which involved ground fault circuit interrupters. (2003-2006)

Peter Chee-Keung Chung v. Xin Liu (Federal District Court for the District of Columbia). Represented Peter Chee-Keung Chung to sue Xin Liu for misjoinder of inventorship. (2004-2005)
