Ewa B. Brandys, M.D. is a physician in the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Program at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is also an Instructor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Brandys attended medical school at Jagiellonian University College of Medicine in Krakow, Poland, receiving her M.D. in 1986. She completed her residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Krakow before moving to the United States in 1995, where she completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Brandys joined Kennedy Krieger Institute in 2003 to begin a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. In 2004 she joined the staff of Kennedy Krieger Institute as an associate physician and is currently a physician in the Pediatric Rehabilitation program. Dr. Brandys is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Research Summary:
Dr. Brandys’s clinical research interests include developing rehabilitation protocols and clinical assessment of hand function in children with spinal cord injury, hemiplegic cerebral palsy, and stroke. She is also involved in studying the impact of sensory deficits on upper extremity skills in children with stroke, hemiplegic cerebral palsy and spinal cord injury.
