Eugene Mercy Biography :

Eugene Mercy is a shareholder of Brownfields Capital Group. He also serves as a Member of the Board of Affordable Residential Communities, is a Principal in Granite Capital International Group and is a special advisor to GDM, a New York City Real Estate Development Company. In 1960, Mr. Mercy joined the Irving Trust Company and from 1961 to 1964 was associated with Halle and Stieglitz members of the New York Stock Exchange. In 1964 he joined Goldman Sachs & Co. in the Securities Sales Department, and in 1968 became Vice President of the Securities Sales and Equity Trading Departments. In 1971, Mr. Mercy was elected a General Partner. After rising through the management ranks of Securities Sales and Trading during his more than 27-year career with Goldman Sachs, Mr. Mercy became a Partner in the Commercial Real Estate Department and later became the Partner-in Charge of the Mortgage Securities Department. He became a Limited Partner in December of 1988 and a Limited Partner of The Goldman Sachs Group, L.P. in 1989. In 1996 he was appointed to the Goldman Sachs Limited Partner Advisory Committee and after the company’s successful public offering in 1999, he became a Senior Director of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.Additionally, Mr. Mercy is a member of the Board and Vice Chairman of Lehigh University, former Vice Chairman of the Board of The Loomis Chaffee School, Vice Chairman of the Board of Beth Israel Medical Center and a Trustee of Continuum Health Partners, Inc. Mr. Mercy also serves on the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of the Museum of Modern Art, as the Vice President of New York Services for the Handicapped. Mr. Mercy graduated from Lehigh University in 1959, and served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
